Crown & Bridges
Both bridges and crowns are known to be fixed dental implants which are fixed over our existing implants or teeth with the help of dental cement. These implants are used to cover/ fill broken or missing teeth.
Crowns also known as Caps is placed over a damaged tooth to provide the necessary support it needs. They also help to improve the alignment, shape and appearance of the damaged tooth. Crowns are generally shaped as per the natural teeth and are available ceramic or porcelain materials. The color of the crown is decided based on the natural color of a person’s teeth.
On the other hand, bridges are recommended when a person is missing one or more teeth. They are used to fill the space/gap between two teeth. Also known as abutments, they are placed generally over the implants or natural teeth and generally are considered as anchors. These anchors are then covered by caps or crowns. Your dentist will let you know if it is advisable to opt for crowns or bridges based on the condition of your natural teeth/tooth.
Implant supported dentures
Implant supported dentures is advisable when a person’s jaw has enough of bone strength to support implanted teeth even though the natural teeth are not there. These are special attachments that are generally recommended for the lower jaw. This is because in comparison to the upper jaw, dentures that are placed on the lower ones tend to be unstable and often cause a lot of inconvenience.
